Recording an album of his own songs had been a burning ambition for James as well as being keenly awaited by jamesfox.biz. Consequently members were thrilled for him when his debut album 'Rocking Chairs and Lemonade' was released in November 2008. The launch party at Hard Rock Cafe in Cardiff on 15th October when James and his band gave an awesome performance, which included songs from the album, was a huge success. The video of 'Higher', the first single of the album, released five days later, was also played continuously during the earlier part of the unforgettable evening. It was an emotional night and we were very proud of James.
It was fantastic to hear how well the album had been received through reading numerous reviews on the internet and in the press, but especially good to hear 'Higher' being introduced by Terry Wogan, on BBC Radio 2. The song was constantly played on Real Radio in Wales and also on BBC Radio Wales with james receiving invitationa for guest appearances to promote his music. A session on the Alan Thompson's show on the latter station in November 2008, which gave him the opportunity to play some of his songs live in the studio while speaking about his career, was followed by a second one in May 2009 when promoting 'Say What You Like', the second single from the album, which was released on May 11th. Both occasions highlighted James' talents for writing and performing live as well as confirming once again, his ability to speak eloquently about his career and music. There have also been frequent articles with interviews and carrer u[-dates in the Welsh press during the year. it has been great to see all this support for James and appreciate how highly he is regarded as a singer songwriter and musician.
From the crowded Cardiff Fireworks Spectacular in the heart of the City to the intimacy of The Bedford in London and beyond, James continued to entertain people with his brilliant performances. One in a venue near Manchester was especially enjoyed by memberes living in the area. Driven by his love of music and keen to perform, he has also played in the bands of friends, Lucie Silvas and Honey Ryder at some of their performances. However, his beloved team Carrdiff City Football Club remained an important part of his career with another high point in the year being his exhilerating performance with his band at the End Of An Era Dinner in May, which marked the closing of Ninian Park and the move to the new ground. The continued support from the Club has seen James undertake a signing session for the album in the Club Shop and perform at End Of An Era event, which took place at the ground itself as well as speaking about his career and the team in several match programme articles and also occasionally commentating for the internet service Cardiff City World. So Many varied opportunities yet James excelled at each one.
Alongside this, James has continued to support the important work at the Velindre Cancer Centre by donating all of the profits of the single 'Say What You Like' and performing at some of their events. He also performed in October 2008 during the Champions Awards ar Cardiff City Hall, a prestgious event hosted by the South Wales Echo..
In September 2008, James announced that officialjamesfox.com had been set up as his own internet site. It has been a delight to see it develop. We were so pleased when he set up a link to to jamesfox.biz and kindly acknowledged our support and indeed ongoing support of his career. As members of jamesfox.biz, James has our continued loyalty and admiration as a remarkably talented performer, who always gives his best in every aspect of his career. Indie Chart success for both singles and critical acclaim for the album are as a direct result of his hard work and dedication to his music.
Moving forward, a demo of 'When Everyone's Gone', a new song, was posted on myspace in July, giving perhaps a little glimpse into the future. James has been busy writing and recording for his next album. Judging by the superb quality of this beautiful composition and hints in the media about directions which might be developed, interesting days lay ahead as we wait to hear more songs on-line and also the opportunity to hear these performed again live when his new collection is ready. We look forward to 2009-2010 with great anticipation, hoping that James will achieve even more success in his career.
We thank James for his music and for his support of jamesfox.biz and we wish him health, happiness and success in the coming year.
Happy Anniversary jamesfox.biz
